One of the arguments often raised against Christianity and / or the existance of God is that since so much evil exists in the world, how can a loving God exist? In other words, does the presence of evil equate to the extinction of God?
According to Ravi Zacharias this argument which has been raised so many times over the centuries can be boiled down to four main points:
- There is evil in the world
- If there were a God, he would have done something about it
- Nothing has been done about it
- Therefore, there is no God
In addition to what the Bible teaches about this topic, there are also several logical flaws in this traditional line of reasoning. I am challenging you Bible scholars around here to point them out. Any takers?

1) there's also so much good. now, there's the mystery of good.
2) why are we even concious of evil? seems like we're expecting to abide by an absolute, objective moral law/truth. now, who's behind that absolute, objective moral law/truth? [ Romans 1:19-21; Romans 2:14-15 ]
3) Jesus Christ claimed to be God. if Jesus is God and He laid down His life, isn't God providing the greatest solution (greatest act of love)? [ John 15:13; 1 John 3:8; Colossians 2:14-15; 1 John 4:11 ]
4) presence of evil doesn't mean absence of God. the next question would be, why does God allow evil? now what would happen if God was to intervene everytime there's an evil?

how can we even expect to hear from God when we don’t even care to listen to what He’s said before. |

nice. check out Ravi's rebuttal to the same question (Cnote's is pretty close!):
- yes, there is evil in this world
- if there is evil, there must be good (a problem the atheist has to explain)
- if there is good and evil, there must be a moral law on which to judge between good and evil
- Rhino's note: for evil to exist, good must also exist because how would we recognize evil without the presence of good? If ALL is evil or suffering (like Buddhists believe) than logically NOTHING is evil or suffering, because we would have no way to distinguish the state of evil
- if there is a moral law, there must be a moral lawgiver
- this points to God

I remember these questions when we read the book “Letters from a Skeptic” by Greg Boyd. That's actually a good, straight-forward-question-and-answer book. Good for the shelf of knowledge.

Noice! Now can we make it so a person who is not a theologian can understand? Coz, this is a common question from the simplest people not just scholars. Like in its most simplest form…. any takers from you bible scholars?

the simples message that sticks with me from this topic is this question: if the existence of evil proves that God does not exist, then does the existence of good in the world prove that He does?
