Story: So we all heard about miss usa being asked what is considered a political question.

“What do you feel about prop 8?”

She replied that here in america we have the right to have own beliefs, BUT from her roots she believes marriage should be between man and woman.

When rated on the response to her question… from an openly gay judge… he gave her a zero which ultimately cost her the crown.

Q: Do you think the MISS USA corp. should reconsider the outcome?

And do you think that miss usa is the appropriate place for politics?

It's not appropriate for politics since it is a beauty pageant.  However, her answer triggered it.  Should I reconsider if I was her?  Nah.  That's why I'm not a beauty queen… I refuse to use my beauty in getting the word out for what I believe! HAHAHAHAHAHAH.  I like to keep it simple. hahah Rolling on the Floor Laughing (That's why if you notice, I didn't put a picture on my profile! HAHAHA – not true! lol)

okay, the burning question really is…how is perez hilton qualified to be a Miss USA pageant judge?  Surprised

did i miss something?  last time i checked, he was a blogger following celebrities around and if you've ever seen his blogs, it's like tmz but uncensored — really obscene and gross!

unfortunately, having him as a judge is reflective of the standards of the company that runs miss usa.  so to me (and this is just my own personal opinion), their professionalism and credibility is completely gone!    Thumb Down

it's a bit frustrating and as belle said, her (belle's) beauty should not be used as a tool to get the Word out there.

psshh….alicia pleeez!!! heehee! Cool

i don't think that miss cali should waste her efforts in getting reconsidered.  If anything,  she has a great opportunity right now to represent what she believes and to really use this incident to bring up the unfair and bias treatment that she was given to make a solid point about having double standard-ness, etc.

she doesn't need to have ties with “miss usa” if this kind of discrimination is allowed and tolerated.  Frustrated

during the q&a, she even prefaced her answer to make clear that she is not in any way discriminating or offending anyone but obviously people are not attentive and apt enough to get that.  No Idea

sooooo…. i guess what i'm trying to say is for her to not allow these people to define what beauty is and what hers is for that matter.  and because her answer has raised enough controversy that she should use this as an opportunity to bring to light the wrong and make it right!  Nerd  (i feel like this guy right now)

politics and miss usa should not be mixed and they did but i know that at the end of all this, it will turn for the good of God's people and for HIS glory alone!

now i understand why belle didn't join miss philippines or usa or india or…..okay…that's all  i'm tired…..Sleep

it's all good…God is in control…let's pray for miss cali that she will have wisdom and that she will seek for the Lord's guidance in how to deal with the situation in the most appropriate and wise way possible.  Angel

THIS!! I was wondering the same thing when I first heard about it. How does a person who apparently has no use for female beauty become a judge of it? It seems kind of counterintuitive to me…

Cool posts guys.

For me I do believe it should be mixed. The misconception about “BEAUTY” Pag. is that it is just that …about beauty. And its not. When selected a winner they go about doing different things like bringing awareness about different concerns we have here in america. Many of them are very smart with degrees. When selected they campaign on issues such as childrens rights and abuse ect. Yes, they are beautiful but its been a long road for many of them. Not only is it hard to stay fit as a women, but keeping their lives clean, going to school and helping the community is amajor part in even being selected. Ms. America represents hope for many of them and many young girls. Many of us are not even as disciplined in our lives as they have been!!! For the most part… now at least… Character is a big issue. Thats why I loved the question….what good is Ms America if she is not diverse in American issues. She represents America. For me Paris was fine in asking the question he did. But, his vote should have not been based on his opinions. Thats wrong. Now, hehe about the beauty part. I see nothing wrong with them using their beauty ….its basically their gift. Gift from God. Like the girl…God made her beautiful and because of that beauty that SHE USED she was able to make a stand. Beauty is not wrong and we should in embrace it in all of us.

SO, danniebelle…my beautiful friend….. why refuse to use your beauty to get the word out? What if thats what God gave it to you for?????

After all, as long as you used for His glory… like her… we shouldnt knock or judge ppl who do.We dont know their hearts. Not that you are danniebelle. Generally, speaking.

i don't think that everyone thinks that miss america is just about beauty nor are these women being undermined because they've had to endure and sacrifice a lot to get to where they are.  the problem is not with them but the people who get to decide on how ms. america should be run or how ms america is chosen.

their talents, accolades and accomplishments all fall under neutral ground, which can be judge much easier without getting biased opinions from the judges but if you add in political views and preference then that's where it becomes tricky.   if we really think about it, it will be close to impossible for an openly gay person to not get offended by ms. cali's answer.  if ms. america corp. or whoever it is that makes up this entity chooses someone like him to judge then that already tells you a lot about what ms america is all about.  unfortunately, as i see it, ms. america is not just the person holding the title but also the people who get to choose who holds the title.  sad but true, otherwise, ms cali wouldn't have been penalized for her answer.

i see what you're saying and those are great points.  i think that there is a time and a place for everything.  there is double-standard going on here and it's not fair that ms. cali's honesty and candor may have caused her her crown.  i wonder if she would've won if her answer was different?  there's got to be a distinct line drawn somewhere.  ideally, if they can ask questions like this without mixing their own opinions and reflecting it on their judgement then this is a great avenue for christians to really speak up but it also opens it up for every other person with other beliefs.

I'm all about ms. america being well versed in all aspects including today's issues and i think that all the contestants are aware but if they cannot represent themselves without being penalized then it is not ever going to be a justified competition.  it's really all going to depend on who is judging and their own preferences so to add politics to the judging part is not really fair.  this also opens up a whole new can of worms.  now, this gives the license to everyone to speak freely about their beliefs while they are representing our country.

let's say ms. cali won and now decides to speak more freely about her beliefs then the company turns around and refrains her from doing so then this proves that ms. america is still not the person “ms. america” but the company/entity ms. america.

it is also possible that she joined the pageant for the purpose of sharing the good news and i pray that is so because that is really wonderful.   she still can especially now that the spotlight is on her.  let's pray that God will truly be lifted up and glorified by how she handles herself in this situation.  yikes….i hope i made sense…this is way too long now.  sorry…i'll stop right now Zip

belle, i think they have auditions going on for miss california 2010 coming up soon!!! heeheehee….really…why not?Laugh

Yea, I agree love_d_myles. I guess what they need to do is review the judges questions pior to the event. Also, your right there must be a line drawn…but I believe- not based on whether or not politics should be included…but based on the code of ethics for the judges. Then again, it will be hard to know if the judge are fairly judging. Haha Paris Hilton the gay… I mean the guy was very obivious he gave zero points right? lol sigh!
