I thought it would be cool if we shared some ideas, strategies and materials for devotions/quiet time.  We can save the Bible Study strategies on a separate topic since that also has a lot.  What I wanted everyone to share are ideas on how to this and that…. materials you use for your own devotion time…. (ie. daily bread, my utmost, etc) and why you like it… Sort of like a devotion material review or just plain ideas.  What do you guys think?  I thought it would be a good way to encourage others and maybe to get a “refresher” for others.

Drawing Near and Strength for Today are awesome devotionals because of the prayer suggestions and the further study suggestions and they're by ptr. john macarthur.

how can we even expect to hear from God when we don’t even care to listen to what He’s said before.

Yes, Marvy, I agree – both Daily Bread and of course, the HS!!!  Smile

A devotional/personal Bible Study that's good too is “Disciple's Prayer Life” by T.W. Hunt.  It really teaches you a lot about prayer with practical ideas on how to apply what you learned.  If you want to improve your prayer life, this is a good study.

I like our daily bread, my utmost for his highest, and sometimes just choosing a chapter and reading. I still get a great message from either one. But, I do love Oswald though. Honestly, sometimes I get a little scared to read his coz I know Im gonna get rebuked. Haha but I try to keep it light too so thats when I use the daily bread. And I sometimes feel like I just want more and I choose my own book of the bible and read that.
